How We Score

Information about companies is collected from one or more of the following sources:

  • AnimalKind audits (accredited companies only)
  • Company websites
  • Self-nomination (self-report) form submitted voluntarily by the company (but not required for rating)

The information is used to score companies against the Humane Best Practices criteria. The criteria are based on the evidence-based, internationally recognized AnimalKind Wildlife and Rodent Control Standards.

For each Humane Best Practices criteria companies are scored either 1 (meaning they follow the Humane Best Practice) or 0 (meaning they do not follow the humane best practice OR there is not enough information to assess).

The AnimalKind team has scored all wildlife and rodent control companies in BC. However, only those that score 6/10 or above are listed on the guide website.
